Founded in 1958 as the Hospital Executives’ Club, the Healthcare Executives’ Club (HEC) has grown into a premier, forward-thinking association that reflects the ever-changing landscape of healthcare and human services in the New York metropolitan area. Embracing this evolution, the club expanded its mission and rebranded to better represent the broad spectrum of professionals dedicated to improving community health.
HEC was conceived by the late Arthur L. Stern, a visionary Hospital Administrator and Healthcare Consultant, along with Henry Karpe, Daniel Fruchter, Harold Schneider, and George Miller. What started as casual monthly dinners among a handful of hospital administrators soon transformed into a formal, not-for-profit association. Their goal was simple yet impactful: to create a dynamic platform where healthcare executives and industry professionals could come together, share insights, collaborate on challenges, and drive innovation in the delivery of care.
As HEC expanded, it became a powerful force in the region, attracting members from New York City, Westchester, and Long Island. Today, it remains at the forefront of healthcare leadership, offering a rich blend of networking, educational opportunities, and social engagement. Monthly programs—ranging from expert-led discussions to interactive panels—empower members to stay ahead of industry trends, while fostering connections that lead to both professional advancement and lasting relationships.
HEC’s commitment to fellowship, leadership, and service drives its modern approach to healthcare advocacy. Its programs continue to be aligned with the industry’s evolving needs, providing team members with cutting-edge learning experiences, impactful community service initiatives, and unmatched networking opportunities. As a diverse, forward-looking community, HEC remains dedicated to elevating the professional and personal lives of its members, helping them thrive in an ever-changing healthcare landscape.
The mission of the Healthcare Executives’ Club (HECNY) is to cultivate a dynamic educational and collaborative environment that empowers members with the contemporary knowledge, skills, and ethical leadership needed to excel in the administration and management of healthcare and human services. Through the exchange of expertise and insights, we foster a community that supports ongoing professional development and encourages meaningful connections among colleagues, peers, and industry leaders.
We strive to build a diverse membership of current and emerging leaders, uniting individuals across all sectors involved in the delivery of healthcare and human services. By providing a collaborative forum for learning and growth, we enable our members to engage in discussions that shape the future of the field, connect with legislative, legal, and service provider networks, and contribute to the development of the industry as a whole.
HECNY advocates for the inclusion of new members and actively supports their involvement in association programs, while facilitating career development opportunities that guide members toward advancement. Through partnerships with academic institutions and service organizations, we offer valuable resources for education and community service initiatives, ensuring that our members’ collective expertise enhances the delivery of high-quality care.
We remain committed to maintaining a trusted and respected reputation within the healthcare and human services sectors, guided by ethical standards and a shared vision of improving the well-being of diverse communities.
Our vision is to be the leading catalyst for transformative leadership in healthcare and human services, driving innovation, equity, and resilience in a post-pandemic world. By fostering a connected, forward-thinking community of diverse professionals, we empower our members to lead with purpose, adapt to evolving challenges, and shape the future of care delivery through collaboration, technology, and sustainable practices. Together, we will create a healthier, more inclusive society where excellence in leadership and service delivery is the standard.
